Little did she know...
So I hurried to the station and got there early...put my headphones in and some music on and didn't really think so much about the time or if the train before mine had left yet. After a while of blowing out air that turned into mist a train tuffed into the platform so I did like everyone else and got on. Mind you - I did sense something suspicious about there because the coupe did not look like it normally does on my train - but ofcourse I didn't think to much of it and quickly grabbed a seat while flipping through songs on my ipod. The train had started moving when I finally lifted my head and looked out and saw this amazing view from the bridge as the train was passing Naatuurpark Ossenwald which was completely covered in dense mist and the ground in frost. Now that was when I realised that oh shit, I'm on the wrong train.
Back and forth to Appeldoorn but only 30 minutes late for class, quite well done if you ask me. Ofcourse it would have been better not to get on the wrong train to begin with but shit happens. Lucky for me the next station was fairly close and I did not get lynched by any angry conductor or anything so all good.

Brrrrr!
I could not belive my eyes when looking out the balcony this morning... the ceiling is covered in frost and ice! The cold season really has begun.
Heading, oh shit I need to leave earlier, to uni in a bit for a few hours of lecture and then I have holidays! Just what I need - now I just need to figure out what to do with my time. Amsterdam tomorrow! And now I have to hurry, my monthly traicard expired yesterday so I need to get a trainticket before I get on the train ...

I was wrong
When I said " atleast we don't have mice" cause what caught my eye if not a little dark mouse fleeing for his life to hind behind the cupboards in the kitchen this morning. Interesting.
I didn't get much written about the weekend yesterday because I was a bit tired. Friday I spent in Groningen wandering around on my own for hours before meeting up with Izzy, Christina, Pauliina and Pepa.

Groningen is a beautiful city with quite a bit more people than Deventer. After meeting the girls at the station we went for panncakes at a Panenkoekenschip and then straight to thestation again to meet Geraldine and her boyfriend.

Izzy was complaining that we were all so touristy but then she picked out her own camera and joined us instead. Sleep we didn't get much of... I sleept curled up on a small couch and woke up with my neck in pain.
Saturday came with rain and even more rain just like the forecast promised. So we were a bunch of 50 international students all rained on to various degrees crammed up in a bus heading for Giethoorn.

At Giethoorn we started with quite a long boatride through the canals of the city (each house is like a little island in a bigger island in the middle of the city.. there are no cars on that side of the water - everything comes in by boat) and then out into the lake that has a waterdeepth of less than 1 meter.

I missed the poffertjes! But I shall get those soon.

Weekend excursion
To Groningen and Giethoorn (the Venice of Holland they call it).

I was not very good at it. I blame the construction, I used to be good once upon a time.

Sunshine & foalies
Since I've heard that sun is good for you, b-vitmamines and all, and that contact with animals is good for you I abandoned the classroom for...

A whole flock of them infact. At first they payed no attention to me and my camera but after a while the foals started getting curious and before long I was surrounded on every side by 3 curious foals. One bit my jeans another sniffed my camera and a third my backpack.

Adorable little creatures! I spent a good 45 minutes or so in their company before I decided to go on with my walk.

A whole lotta more pictures to be found http://s238.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/diie_ana/Konik/

A reminder
that I actually like the fall.

I had almost forgotten it what with all the rain and greyness but then I took a nice long walk (perfectly timed inbetween the raining) and saw how colourfull the world actually is by now.

I walked past the little borderij...and this cute lill goat seemed very happy to see me

She even came up to the fence standing on her backlegs trying to reach me, ofcourse she quickly dismissed me as useless since I brought nothing eatable...

Thats the face of dismissal. Haha

Weird
I woke up at 7:30 because I had my alarm set just so that I could go back to sleep and enjoy my sleep in. But instead of falling asleep again I lay in bed for 30 minutes and think of laundry?! Haha. So eventually I get out of bed, remove the laundry someone left in the washing maschine and start my laundry and then I go back to bed and sleep another hour after which I wake up and only want to sleep more.
I think that JOSEFINE and LILLASYSTER should get better at updating their blogs....thats all.
Ofcourse the dutch weather messes everything up - I wanted to take a morning walk before I have to leave for Windesheim to do the budget excersise with my group but it just started raining. Walk postponed untill further notice (read: untill I get back from budgetting with my groupmates).

Får jag av CSN i morgon. Studiestöd. Jomenvisst, tack så mycket. Haha.
I dag var en lång dag en väldigt lång dag.. så lång så jag orkar faktiskt inte skriva mer än så, And I forgot myself and started writing in swedish for some reason, weird. Its been a while. If we don't count my horsie forum ofcourse.

Zwolle
Today we were done fairly early and even though it is a grey boring day I decided to explore Zwolle a bit. I figured it was about time I saw something more than the trainstation and Windesheim. The first thing that met me in the city was the Straassenpoort:

Which was actually on my - must see - list. So now I have seen it. I have not walked through it however since doing so would mean risking getting hit by either car or bicykle. I decided to stay on the safe side.
I think I managed to find the city center - de groete markt and the city church.

After I had walked the shopping street to its end I turned back to get some pictures of the really nice piece of architecture that the church presented when I got stopped by two older women. One of them says something in dutch and I reply "Sorry, I'm not from around here" and then she seems to think ok nevermind then. But the other one didn't see a problem apperantly:
- We are talking to people about Jesus Christ, do you know him?
-Yeah I know, I'm not interested. I say and start walking again
-You can still have a relationship with him, the woman says and I halfturn and answer: No, I really don't think so.
Then it hit me, the first religious approach here in the bible belt. Haha.

Then I got a little bit lost on my way back to the trainstation (it started raining so I decided I was done for today) and came across the Museum de Fundatie (also one of those things you should see in Zwolle I think, but maybe next time I should actually go in).

And last but not least I came across a borderij and there was a little ponny! That quicjly dismissed me as soon as it realised I had nothing to offer in terms of eatables.

And thats all for today folks. Ohh, next week I'm going to Amsterdam by the way.

Damned slugs
Seriously... there are nicer things to come across on the floor at 7 am in the morning. And this I blame all on the huurbas that doesn't want us to lock the backdoor and then the moron can't even bother to close it properly. I wouldn't be surprised it it's those kids of theirs throwing the slugs in through the door or something. Or maybe they just crawl in through the door, also a possibility. Eitherway I do not like them!
Happy cinnamonbun day!
A day most people fail to acknowlege. I haven't had a cinnamonbun in ages, well actually since we went to visit grandma this summer. But that wasn't real cinnamonbuns it was miniature ones with some vanilla crap in the filling. I once baked cinnamonbun for my class (we had a class where everyone bought something they baked each week) in 8th grade. They got very popular because I made to much dough to properly fit it on our table at home and instead of splitting the dough in two making normal sized cinnamonbuns I made teaplate++ sized ones instead.
So happy cinnamonbun day, I wont be getting one today but for all of you who will - enjoy. Preferably with a cup of hot tea or hot choco.
On another note. It is now becoming very appearant that I'm living in the dutch bible belt. Churchbells from a distance at 4 am (I actually think it's every hour but it's not loud enough to wake my luckilly) and now sunday as it is I've heard churchbells a buncha times allready since I got out of bed 30 mins ago. Noones trying to convert me yet and should they try they would fail miserably.

Spooky
It does get a bit spooky when I realise that everyone else seems to be out. Living in a bigt old house with 7 other people it's never quiet. But when everyone else is out the house is almost too quiet.
One late night, actually at 4 am, I went down to the bathroom on the bottom floor. The house was all quiet and the kitchen dark, so when I opened the door from the backroom/washer room whatever you want to call it and the guy living downstairs stands there I spook quite a bit and jump in the air my hands flying up to my chest as I go "oh my god", haha.
Tonight is a perfect night for a scary movie. Strong winds pulling at the trees outside an empty dark creaky old house with a backdoor that's always unlocked ...I could be living in a bad horror movie right this moment where the crazy huurbas or the schitzo woman sneaks slowly up the stairs (impossible to do so without making a noise) in pursuit of the lonely swedish exchange student sitting in her room watching a creepy movie on tv. Ofcourse I do lock my door from the inside so they would have to get me outside the confinments of my kamer.
It should be noted that I'm not at all happy with the backdoor, but for anyone to enter through that door they need to go through the frontyard of my huurbas house and pass the motiondetector lights thety have. So for now, I think we are safe.

Saturday night
Johnny Depp falls asleep in the bath with a glass of absinth in his hand. I drink tea and enjoy the warmth my new socks are providing my feet with as the wind is half storming outside. On the tv ... From Hell. Makes me remember that one time when I was about 7 or 8 and the old Jack the Ripper movie was on tv. I was spending the night over at my best friends house and her mother let us watch the movie with us. When it was time to sleep I was dead scared that my friends mother would have the same sickness (in the old movie Jack the Ripper is portraited as schitzoprenic if I recall correctly) as the Ripper and that she would suddenly come into my friends room and cut us both open. I was supposed to sleep on a matress on the floor next to the bed that night, but the matress was close to the door and since I was afraid my friend let me have the bed. Ofcourse we survived the night just fine but it still lives vividly in my memory.
Weird night
I forgot it earlier but last night was quite weird. It started with me going downstairs to the bathroom and then when I came out of it there was two of these:

Sliming around on the floor. I had no intention of touching them so I went back to sleep and dreamt alot the whole night. I woke up a little before 7 ad it was all dark outside raining heavilly. When I came downstairs again this morning the snails were gone (or did they crawl into the washing machine? ).

Not today
That's all I'm saying. The rain did stop for now but in it's place it is now blowing half storm outside. I'm gonna finish my tea, structure this place up a bit so that I can walk across the room without stepping over a bunch of shopping bags. While doing so I'm going to consider if it is worth risking todays good mood over groceries or if I will get by just fine on what I have at home. It does not feel right spending the whole day inside no matter how shitty the weather is however so I will be taking a walk and pick up some more sallad and maybe a little something more exciting for todays dinner. It's saturday after all and it'd been a while since I sinked my teeth into a veggie schnitzel. Will, as always, do my best not to get caght in the wind and blow away - that would be unfortunate if such an event should occur.
In a good mood yes, wanting to read a good book under a warm blankie and feel completely relaxed and ok with it. Monday promises sunshine so that afternoon (while the rest of my class has english) I will head on into Zwolle and lunch at some nice eetkafé (mind the spelling ..lol) before sightseeing the city like a proper tourist.

Happy friday
I'm sleepy, sniffly, coughing and a bit chilly but no less happy because of that. Drinking my usual cup of tea, browsing my usual webpages waiting for when it's time to leave for the train.
By now I have almost been here for a full month, in Holland for little over two months. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it feels good. That's about all I got for you at this point. My head is ecoing emptyness and my thoughts are far from structured. I'm waking up, or working on it.
So happy friday, enjoy the begining of the weekend - I know I will!

It gets dark fast
And the moon travells the sky at a noticable pace...

Production Planning
Could be alot of fun, could be alot of things. Is mostly rather tiredning at the moment. Client is vague (he wants something with culture and religion and muslims in the western world but the audience is muslims in egypt) teacher is even more vague and in the middle you have alot of confused students. Me not so much, just a little. Everyone else, alot. Which also works against me since I have to listen to their concerns about things. Or complaints about our teachers teaching skills.
Right now I just wish that we could get started, get past the whole stupid "create a concept for a webbsite we wont even make" part and move on to the documentary that we really are going to make. Our teacher wants us to make a plan and plan in the weeks and what needs to be done. But if you look at the schedule we allready have he wants to controll and stear when we do what. What is the point of us making our own plan then?
Now I'm gonna drop my studies for today and watch footie all night long. Munching on a stommaltijd (steamdinner) with spinage and geitenkaas and it's jummy!

Footieee

And not just any footie. In sweden I watched La liga, in Holland Champions league hupping for the dutchies.
I have a happy pile
With some much needed new clothes. Common! It's gonna be winter soon and I freeze easilly so I got me some nice and cosy knitted top thingies. I also learned why everything (atleast everything warm and cosy) here is short sleeved - because you're supposed to wear layer on layer. I guess I could have figured that one out myself. Layer on layer it is . I'm so happy to be inside dry and warm. Fall can be pretty but it can also suck reallllllyy bad with the raining...
