In dutchieland

Seeing as english is the language I'm using the most at the moment, except for a few mumbled dutch phrases and words, I figured I might aswell write in it aswell.

This week has been packed ...loaded even. Monday I was in Gothenburg moving out my stuff to storage, cleaning the appartment and getting my feet soaked. tuesday morning at 8 am littlebrother came picking me up for our drive to Holland. We picked up two of his friends that he´s known since elementary school and then the very long drive begun. It was a fairly smooth ride except for that one thing with the german police ...

We were driving very legally and good and not causing any trouble when this german police car pulls up infront of us and starts blinking a sign saying "Bitte, follow" so we did ... They checked our passports, looked at us and asked quite a good deal of questions before telling us that the problem.. was that apperantly our car smelled like marijuana. Hilarious actually, but the police didn't quite thing so... lol

They asked us a number of times if any of us smokes... frisked the boys (I didn't have any pockets so nothing to poke on me) and then went through the whole car ...on top of that they also insisted on opening all our bags to sniff in them. Luckilly they settled with that and didn't go rumaging through our lugage and stuff. Eventually they had to admitt that there were no mariujana in the car or in the lugage and let us go. Lillbrother asked the female police why anyone would bring marijuana into Holland but she didn't have any good answer to that ...

00:30 we arrived in Leeuwarden where the boys munched pizza, had a few beers and played poker with us girls - we came out as winners, surprisingly enough since both lillbro and his buddies are playing alot of online poker.

On wedsday we went out to this farm/animal place and visited froukjes old verzorgpaard, Donja, and said hi to the other horses and animals. I got to pet the cutest little baby goats there is, one even sneaked through the fence to stand and sniff at me, haha. The dutch countryside is really beautiful - there is so much nature and green stuff and animals and water. I'm completely blown away cause it does not at all match the image I have in my head regarding Holland. People are really nice and friendly here and everyone speaks good english aswell, makes it so easy to sort of fit in.

On thursday we went shopping a bit and took a look around in Leeuwarden, it's a nice little city. I love the dutch houses and stuff. Yesterday we had quite a few things on the agenda, first out was a visit to the hairdressers for me. It was a bit weird getting your hair cut by someone who was babbling away in dutch the whole time - I did get quite a bit of what she said tho and the hair turned out well. I the afternoon we went a bit past Groningen to this icelandic horses place and rode out for 2 hours. It was really nice and I got the cutest lill jumpy horse. My legs were hurting rather bad halfway through it though but that was all worth it. I'm not half as sore today as I was expecting to be so that's really good.

In the evening we went out but Leeuwarden was practically dead... bars and clubs were about empty. We had a good time tho and it was fun to get out of the house. Now I'm sitting here in my room for the coming month, in Zeist, real close to Utrecht where I'll be taking my dutch course with start on monday. On our way here we stopped by to cuddle frouks verzorgpaard and her foal (the most adorable little thing) and for me to get a tour of the stable.

The room is great and I got a nice big bed so I'm sure I'll like it here.. the only downside is that it lacks a TV, but who needs television anyways? I have a stack of dutchbooks to read and my computer with working internet. I don't need much else!
